The Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce educational funding opportunities from both KSDAR and NSDAR. The Kansas Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution are fortunate to have several scholarships to offer during the Bullock Administration, from 2025-2028.

The Kansas DAR Scholarship is awarded to a female high school senior, enrolled in an accredited high school, who is eligible or is already a member of DAR.

Chapter sponsorship is recommended.

Four written references are required.

The recipient will need to attend a two or four-year accredited college or university, the fall after receiving the Kansas DAR Scholarship.

The Judd Smith Brooks Scholarship is an opportunity for a young man, who is a descendent of a proven DAR line, to receive a one-time scholarship of $1,000. Proof of enrollment in a two or four-year accredited college or university shall be required.

NSDAR Scholarships

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution offers many scholarships for students pursuing a degree in fields of study including History, Economics, Medical, Nursing, and Elementary/Secondary Teacher Education. 

Awards are based on academic excellence, commitment to the field of study, and/or financial need, or other restrictions on specific scholarships.

The application process is entirely online through the DAR Academic Works Portal, The portal is open for the coming year from November 1 through January 31, at 11:59 pm (Hawaii Time).

DAR Good Citizens

The DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship Contest, created in 1934, is intended to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship.

This award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree.

American History Essay Contest

The purpose of the American History Committee is to promote American history throughout the year by honoring significant historical people, places, dates, and events. It does this in several ways including the American History and Patriots of the American Revolution Essay Contests, recognition of women in American History, the Excellence in American History DAR Award, and through programs on American history for chapter meetings.

Patriots of the American Revolution High School Essay Contest

High school aged students are encouraged to choose a person from the era of the American Revolution (1773-1783) and discuss how that person influenced the course of the American Revolution. Chosen figures may be any person, regardless of sex, age or prominence, who supported the American Revolution. Essay subjects must have been actual participants, i.e., not fictionalized. Students are Encouraged to use primary sources (letters, diaries, news reports etc.) for their research. Essays are to be 800-1200 words in length.
