Current Community Projects

Historic Preservation
In 1917, the General Edward Hand Chapter, NSDAR, raised money to install four pillars to beautify the entrance to the cemetery. In 1936, the DAR added plaques to commemorate Jotham Meeker as the first printer in Kansas, and another honoring both members of the Ottawa tribe and missionaries buried in the cemetery. In 2019 General Edward Hand Chapter, NSDAR, again raised money to restore the historic pillars moving them just north of the original site. Members have also taken part in the restoration of other landmarks in the area.
Patriotism and Honoring our Veterans

Members take part in many activities to support our veterans. Here members pose with donations gathered at a meeting to send to Pituffik Space Force Base in Greenland.
We also enjoyed great fun on our float that we shared with Veterans during the Veteran’s Day Parade!
