Wyandot Chapter is the only DAR chapter in Wyandotte County, Kansas, which includes all of Kansas City, Kansas, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, and Piper. The chapter's 50th Anniversary was October 29, 2003. We currently have 49 members and welcome new members. You are invited to get in touch with us! Email. We will try and help you become a part of DAR and our chapter!

Wyandot Chapter DAR holds regular meetings throughout the year. Meetings are held on Saturdays to accomodate the schedules of working women.

All chapter meetings are opened with a prayer, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and the American's Creed, and singing the National Anthem or another patriotic song. After our business meeting we have an interesting program given either by guest speakers or our own members. The programs are based on Historic, Patriotic, Heritage, Conservation, Preservation, or Educational topics:

December
Traditional Christmas Luncheon at the Grinter Chapel United Methodist Church. Items are collected for the Veterans' Christmas at the Eisenhower VA Medical Center. Program will be "A Picture Story Quilt of the Lewis & Clark Expedition in Kansas, 1804." Speaker, Ruth Schultz, quilt designer.

January
Meeting at West Branch Library. Speaker: Nelda Worthington, a member of the chapter and a member of the Cherokee Nation. She joined DAR through her Patriot ancestor, Nancy Ward.

February
Meeting at Eisenhower Recreation Center. Speaker, June Fauccet, "Volunteering For Joy and Rewards."

March
Meeting at the Presbyterian Manor. Speaker, Ila Jean Ulrich, "Exploring Women's Issues."

April
Sack lunch meeting at the KCK Library West Branch. Speaker, Louise Haines-Sherman, book review, "Benjamin Franklin: An American Life," by Walter Isaacson.

May
Meeting at Wyandotte County Historical Museum. Speaker, Annie Bloomquist, "Tecumseh: These Lands Are Ours."

June
Flag Day Picnic. Families and friends are welcome!
