WELCOME:
Thank you for visiting us online. We would enjoy meeting you in person. Please contact us for additional information about DAR and the Martha Loving Ferrell Chapter. |

HISTORY:
Our chapter, the fifty-fifth chapter in Kansas, was chartered on October 26, 1937, with twenty-seven members. Many of the Martha Loving Ferrell Chapter organizational meetings were held in the home of Leda Marie Ferrell Rex (Mrs. Loren Edgar), who was the state regent at that time. Martha Loving Ferrell, the great grandmother of Mrs. Rex, was the daughter of Randolph Loving, who served in the First Virginia Regiment with George Washington at Valley Forge. Lewis Wells Ferrell (Martha Loving Ferrell's husband) was the son of James Ferrell, also a veteran of the First Virginia Regiment. When the War of 1812 came, Lewis Wells Ferrell served as Captain of First Battalion, 47th Virginia Regiment. |
