The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded October 11, 1890. Our National
Headquarters is located at 1776 D Street NW in Washington, D.C. It occupies three adjoining structures: Memorial
Continental Hall; DAR Constitution Hall; Administration Building. It is one of the most valuable sites in America owned
entirely by women.
A total of nearly 805,000 members have been admitted since 1890 and the current membership is over 170,000.
These members are found in nearly 3000 chapters in all 50 States and the District of Columbia and in 17 overseas units
located in nine countries.
Goals of the DAR: Historic Preservation • Promote Education • Patriotic Endeavor
A prime area of interest for DAR members is education. Our chapter supports education and
youth by contributing to the many scholarships offered by the National Society.
In addition, our chapter offers a scholarship for use by a student of St. Mary College who
is eligible to join DAR. Contact us for
details on our chapter scholarship.
DAR supports several schools, and our chapter does its part to fund these projects, as
well as participate in gift programs. Read more about the DAR schools in the links below.
Our members join in volunteer activites at the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Hospital in
Leavenworth, providing cakes at Valentine's Day, and other items for use by the patients
all year long.
In the area of historic preservation, our chapter joins with others in DAR in commemorating
such anniversaries as:
50th Anniversary of the Korean War
Bicentennial of the Lewis & Clark Expedition.
Bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase.
We welcome questions about our Society and our Chapter.
