KSDAR Library

2601 Central • Dodge City, Kansas 67801

The Kansas Society DAR established a research library for its members
in 1930. At first, it was a traveling library moving from city to city
as new state librarians were elected. In 1959 the State Society voted
to place the growing collection in a permanent location in Dodge City, Kansas.
In 1993 the library moved to the present location in in Dodge City, on the
lower level of the Village Square Mall, where it welcomes all researchers.

The KSDAR Library is housed with the Kansas Genealogical
Society library. Researchers have the added benefit of working
in both areas, making use of both fine genealogical collections.

The KSDAR Library contains over 4,000 items, including
many old plat maps and the original 1880 Kansas Census
Books. The library is staffed entirely by volunteers.

A project completed in the spring of 2004 is a searchable,
computerized card catalog, as well as a newly-printed card catalog
with expanded data. Shown here is Carol Evans, who created the
database, demonstrating the search capabilities of the new system.

Research services are not available, but anyone
is welcome to visit the Kansas DAR Library.
